Title | The Social Life of the Metropolis |
Description | This course explores the nature of the modern city using New York as an example. We will examine the city's role as an international center of business, finance and culture, its ethnic and racial cleavages, its role in incorporating immigrants and the ways in which the physical use of space shapes, and is shaped by, the city's social life. We will conclude with an examination of the impact of the events of 9/11 on New York and on large cities in general. |
