Title Seminar in American Politics: Racial Politics in the U.S.
Description This course investigates the politics of race in the U. S. with particular attention to the political status of African Americans. We will cover topics including the meaning of race, the civil rights movement and collective action, gender, class and regional differences, racial prejudice, racial identity, and various public policy issues such as residential segregation and political representation. The focus will be on student participation and student research projects involving direct observation and rigorous qualitative analysis, or analysis of quantitative data.
