Title Latinos in American Life and Culture
Description This course will consider how Hispanics are transforming the United States even as they evolve as a people. Topics to be examined include the social and cultural significance of Hispanicity as an ethnic category, whether Hispanics are redrawing color lines, the implications of the unprecedented geographic dispersal of Latinos, and what the burgeoning second generation portends for the future contours of social and economic inequality, future political influence, and their myriad cultural imprints through music, literature and bilingualism.
Prerequisites Sophomore or Junior Standing.
