Description This seminar explores a range of ideas advanced by major thinkers in philosophy, politics, religion, and related areas. Among the question we will consider: Are there moral truths? What is justice? Does the positive law of the state stand in judgment under a "higher law"? What is the relationship, if any, between faith and reason or reason and revelation? What should a person do when legal and moral (or religious) obligations collide? Do people have obligations to the common good? What does it mean to live a life of integrity? How do human beings flourish? How can society be organized to best promote the flourishing of human beings?
