| Description | This course is an introduction to the history of modern East Asia. We will examine the inter-related histories of Korea, Japan, and China since 1800 and their relationships with the wider world. Major topics include: trade and cultural exchanges, reform and revolutions, war, colonialism, imperialism, Cold War geopolitics, and socialism. |
