| Description | We read a selection of plays from the second half of Shakespeare's career, including <u>Hamlet</u> and the great tragedies, the so-called "problem plays," and the final romances. We'll think about the plays as scripts for the stage (or even film) as well as texts for reading. We'll consider such topics as the nature of Shakespearean subjectivity; erotic politics; time as destroyer and time as redeemer; Shakespearean poetics; Shakespeare in his time and in ours. |
