Title: Topics in Policy Analysis (Half Term): The Development Challenge of HIV/AIDS (Session 1)
Description: This seminar will review the origins of HIV, the multiple impacts of AIDS, the reasons for sustained global neglect, the foundations of effective prevention & treatment programs & the urgent need to improve monitoring & evaluation. Special attention will be given to the role of social factors in the epidemic. Course participants will examine the policy-making process related to global public goods & consider whether the world is better positioned to avert a resurgence of this pandemic or the emergence of the next threat.
