Title Advanced Studies in Acting: Scene Study and Style
Description This workshop will use mask work to train students to find the "Neutral State," to tweak that state toward character work and eventually toward the idiosyncratic and personal world of the Clown. Neutral Mask trains actors to find an elusive yet simple physical state rid of background noise in order to engage the theater at its roots: physical, spatial, rhythmic, dynamic and expressive. We'll then explore some of the infinite possibilities of creating masked comic characters, based on variations from neutrality. The final step will be the discovery of the Clown, through the use of the smallest mask in the world - the red nose.
Prerequisites THR 201 or THR 301 or THR 311 OR any class in Dance. APPLICATION INFORMATION: Please see the Program website for specific application information.
